Backing Up Summer Memories

Summer is here and it is time to whip out the camera, capture new memories and store them for years to come. With our tips and tricks, you can ensure that your summer memories are backed up and accessible, waiting for you to share with friends and family.

BACKUP CONSISTENTLY:

Backing up your files and data consistently is imperative. When you fall behind on your backup you risk losing current data and information. Setting your system to automatically backup files to an external hard drive and to a cloud backup will ensure that you are getting the most current files.

MULTIPLE BACKUP'S:

We suggest having multiple backups for all your data and files, including your

pictures and videos. That’s right! Back up your backup. You should have:

1). On-site Backup 2). Off-site Backup and 3). Cloud Backup

SAVING SPACE:

Images and videos require a lot of space on your computer which in return can slow down your computer and affect it’s performance. We suggest saving images and videos to both a cloud storage and external hard drive.

CHECK YOUR BACKUPS:

Often times you may think you are backing up, but you actually are not. Some

reasons your backup may not be working:

1). Your external drive is out of space 2). Your Online backup has been disconnected from the internet or is not syncing with your computer 3). Your backup is not properly installed.

WHY MULTIPLE BACKUPS?

For recovery purposes, having multiple backups of your files and data will allow you to access your files after a disaster. Disasters can be big or small and are typically unannounced, which is why one specific backup plan is not enough.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLOUD BACKUP

& DROPBOX?

Dropbox is an Online cloud storage, but don’t be fooled. Dropbox is NOT a cloud backup. A cloud backup program stores and encrypts the information saved, protecting you from scammers, hackers, data breaches and more.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BACKUP?

Ideally we recommend backing up daily, however at the very least, we suggest once a week.
